Chapter - Carrollton - 2007

After a very pleasant free day spent at Lake Atwood, the Chapter was officially opened today! The delegates, together with five members of NAU gathered in the Chapter room at 8.00 a.m. They were seated in “life groups” six people at a table. These life groups are as international as possible, though speaking the same language. There are 3 English language groups, two Spanish-speaking groups and two French-speaking groups.
A hymn to the Spirit spoke to us of the journey, of transformation, of freedom, of allowing ourselves to be shaken up and driven towards giftedness, sharing and justice. The prayer included the roll call of delegates. Everyone present was also named, as each one, in her way, will contribute to the work of the Chapter.
The Chapter then dealt with aspects of organisation, intended to help its good functioning. These were the Chapter Rules, Nomination of Secretaries (Kay Finnegan and Consolata Wangari Mungai), Election of Scrutineers (Jenny Coyne and Marie-Paul Loubier,) This was followed by the Election of the Central Committee (Florence Mutono Kisilu, Annick Egu, Josefina Lopez,
Marie-Francoise le Brizaut.)

The last Eucharist together with all the NAU sisters was celebrated. They ended their Assembly today, and the bishop of Steubenville presided at the celebration. The “official” and historic group photo was taken after the mid-day meal.

In the afternoon, Sister Anne Marie Klopstein presented the Union’s financial report for the past six years.The situation is a healthy one, and there is a significant increase in funds for sharing in solidarity, but we have also had no general bursar since 2004.

The final part of the day’s work was spent in life groups. They began to sift what is of importance for the life of the Union at this time.
